Norton Blocked Downloads

Norton Antivirus has two features that run in the background to protect your computer. They also disable any online connections made from a .MSI file. SPSS/AMOS from the SPU Download Center and any Microsoft Imagine’s download packages are affected. Users can change the Norton settings or choose to uninstall Norton scan. We recommend using Microsoft Security Essentials for Windows 7. Windows 8 has virus protection built into Windows Defender.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Before downloading the file in question, open Norton scan and select the computer tab. Switch the setting indicated below to Off


  2. Click on the Network tab and switch the setting indicated below to Off and click Apply


  3. After these settings are turned off, users will be able to download SPSS and AMOS as well as other .msi packages
     

Don't forget to turn the settings back on once the files have downloaded
