Our Philosophy
The SPU Placement Team in the School of Education is anchored by values of inclusion, equity, educational justice, and culturally sustaining practices. We support all students and value the richness that diversity brings to the learning community at SPU. We are committed to preparing our students to teach, support, and advocate for all of their students and families.
A Word About Inclusiveness
Our placement team opposes the recent decision of the SPU Board of Trustees to uphold SPU’s longstanding exclusionary hiring policy. We stand with our LGBTQIA+ students, alumni, faculty, and staff, who are a central and critical part of our campus community. We believe these students, alumni, faculty, and staff deserve better, and we are working within our program and across our campus to mitigate the harm that the Board of Trustees has done and is doing.
