Overview

Online proctoring refers to a digital form of supervising an exam in order to ensure the identity of the test taker and the integrity of the test taking environment.

As of Spring 2021 quarter, Respondus LockDown Browser & Respondus Monitor was disabled within Canvas. The university is not renewing its contract.

Prior to using Respondus, instructors should make sure they understand any DSS communications about providing specific accommodations as well as familiarize themselves with ETM's Test Accommodations instructions.

Who is Respondus?

Respondus has been a pioneer of online testing applications for nearly two decades. Exam takers use LockDown Browser to deter cheating. LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment within a learning management system such as Canvas. LockDown Browser prevents students from printing, copying, going to another website, or accessing other applications during a test. If you use LockDown Browser with Respondus Monitor, you build upon the power of LockDown Browser by using a student's webcam industry-leading video analytics to deter students from cheating during non-proctored exams.
